Melbourne Day 5: Dinner @ Mekong Vietnam

We opt for Vietnamese foods for dinner.
There is a few Vietnamese restaurant in the city. This one looks very crowded, so we decided to join in the crowd.
Mekong Vietnam.
Simple setting but full with people from different cultures.
Beef pho.
Yummy! I'd been missing this since our last trip to Hanoi. I couldn't find a similar taste like those in Hanoi, in Malaysia. And I found it in Melbourne!
The portion is so big that we share is 2 pax.
Grilled pork with noodles. This tasted so-so only. Still cannot compete those I tried in Hanoi.
Grilled pork rice. This also so-so only.
After our dinner, we are reluctant to go back to hotel for a rest, because we are going to leave early in the morning. So we continue to walk around.
This is Chinatown at night.
The cooling weather makes it so comfort to walk.
Good night and good bye Melbourne  :)

Overall, the trip was quite nice.
I'm missing it as I'm typing this.
But if were to compare with Perth, I personally like Perth more.  :)

Melbourne Day 5: Melbourne City

Day 5 was our last day of the trip.
It's a city tour.
We start our day with Queen Victoria Market.
Here is the place to get your souvenirs.
Though, as you must expect, most of the items came from China.
And the people who open a stall here mostly consists of Asians. With Malaysian seller speaking Malay and Chinese seller speaking Mandarin, I basically doesn't feel that i'm actually in Australia.
The other part of the market selling consumable items such as cheese, delis and meats.
We bought a block of gouda cheese here. Our first time of learning about cheese  :P
We then pick up some foods for our tea time.
The nice part of this market is, they provide chairs and tables for you to sit down and eat.
This is nice. Something like popiah (Spring roll) but with cheese and meats inside.
I was tempted with the large hotdog. This come for a price of $6. But the taste turns out disappointing.
We then walk around Chinatown.
And saw the city sight seeing bus. Expensive.
The free tram for tourists. But it is so pack that I would advise you to just buy a MyKI card and use the paid tram.
Not knowing where else can we walk, we stop by Eureka Skydeck.
The city of Melbourne.
I actually really prefer the suburban side of Melbourne.
We continue to walk around.

And although sick of fries, we still bought the fries from Lord of The Fries.
Nothing special, really. Just that the fries comes with sauces.
But other than that, nothing really special.

This is the second last post before I wrap up our Melbourne trip :)

Melbourne Day 4: Melbourne City

We arrived Melbourne airport to return the car, just as the sky turns dark about 7pm.
We then took skybus transfer to check in Tune Hotel.
Tune Hotel rental was a catch. I booked when they just launch it and the price was $50/ room/ night.
After having simple dinner, we had a walk around the city.
Flinders Street Train Station.
Inside looks so busy with so many people walking around in a fast pace.
I had a bit of culture shock when transit from such a peaceful suburb to a busy city.

If you do not like to walk, they have bicycle for rental.
Or u can opt for the city tram.
The next day, when we chat with the receptionist, only to find out that the city tram is charged daily rate, countless time of you go in and out of the tram, as long as you ride in the same line.
If we knew earlier, we wouldn't had walk so much and use the tram instead.
I however, suggest you walk once along the street. You can see a lot of things and differently compare to you see it through tram though.
Amaze by their library.
We then head back to our room and call it a day.
A tiring day but still a relax trip :)

Melbourne Day 4: Lunch @ 12 Rocks Cafe & Beach Bar

We stop by Port Campbell for lunch.
It was a very quiet town. Very peaceful.
There is not much restaurant options and we chosen 12 Rocks Cafe & Beach Bar.
It is located facing the sea. A very calming scenery.
As usual, I won't survive without Mocha.
And here is their menu.
Morrocan spiced chicken cous cous salad-chicken breast coated in mild spices, served on a chickpea
cous cous salad & topped with lemon & mint yoghurt. $19.
Erm erm.. it's kinda dry for me. But it's my first time knowing cous cous.
Salmon bruschetta – smoked salmon, avocado, fetta & tomato with lemon & olive oil. $18.
Potato, salmon, spring onion croquettes with garden salad, avocado etc. $19. This is nice.
Same as above.

The foods was normal and due to our sore throat, it doesn't really suit us. The staffs is friendly. Restaurant environment is good and good scenery!

Melbourne Day 4: Great Ocean Road - Melbourne

On Day 4, we use the inside road to return back to Melbourne.
After eating our self prepared breakfast, we departed Apollo Bay and along the road, stop at any road sign of 'lookout point'.

So love the big piece of green land with sheeps and fresh air  :)
Entrance at each stop is free!

In the end, we use more time than we planned. So we had skipped a few spots, eg. Otway Fly Treetop Walk & Camperdown.
We'd made it to Otway Estate, but it was closed. A very disappointing one.
But overall, GOR trip was a nice road trip! Nice view & fresh air despite the long driving time due to we only use 2 Day 1 Night for GOR trip. I strongly recommend you to use 3D 2N for this trip.

Melbourne Day 3: Waterfront Motor Inn Apollo Bay

On day 3, we stayed one night in Apollo Bay - Waterfront Motor Inn.
This is a good bargain. I booked the apartment from Agoda; which cost AUD138.
And we love this place a lot. We regret we couldn't spend more time here.
It's a mini apartment but very complete. The kitchen contains all the basic kitchenette; such as frying pan, pot, spoons and forks etc.
The apartment contains 2 room. The bed is so comfy and it has built in heater on its quilt! :)
A very clean and cosy apartment.
And the best thing is, there is heater in the toilet to keep you warm! :)

I would definitely recommend this place to family that plan to travel to Apollo Bay :)

Melbourne Day 3: Great Ocean Road

On Day 3, we begin our Great Ocean Road tour after having our breakfast :)
We saw a fruit shop on our way. So, we stop by and bought a lot of fruits!
The fruits in Melbourne is very cheap and sweet compared to those in Malaysia.
Raspberry and Blueberry. AUD5 per box.
Too bad that the fruits don't last long. It 'melted' along our GOR roadtrip.
View along the way.
Our first stop was Angelsea Golf Course. From my homework, people said that you can see kangaroo lounging at the golf course. But, we didn't see any! Waste of time.
We then stop by Aireys Lighthouse with initial objective was a quick snap shots and continue our tour.
Somehow, we stop by here for almost an hour. Taking pictures and strolling around.
And they have this cute coffee shop.
I always love the blue sky in Australia :)
We continue our road trip.
And stop by Lorne for the famous fish and chips.
We ordered this set for 3 which cost us AUD68.8 include 3 bottles of drinks.
Overrated fish and chips.
We had the fish and chips from the salty dog.
We decided to skip Cape Otway Lighthouse and spend more time loitering around Lorne.
They have beach and you can buy ice cream and sit there enjoy the fresh air and sounds of waves.
Love the rays :)
A part of GOR view.
We arrive Kennet River and drive along the koala walk. Yes. You  can really see koala but it takes some time for your eyes to adjust around and focus hardly. But once you spotted one, you will find the others easily.
After koala watching, we head to Apollo Bay to check in our apartment :)
