Krabi Day 3: Tiger Cave and Krabi Night Market

After came back from a tiring kayak session, we prepare ourselves for our evening session which includes tiger cave and night market. The tour package was booked from our resort and cost us THB1200. Driver come and pick us up from the resort by minivan, shared with 2 other couples.
In the end, I think it's more worth if you just take the tuk tuk to tiger cave and night market. Tuk tuk cost THB500 and if you are lucky enough, you might be able to share with others and save on the cost! But of course tuk tuk might not be too comfortable compare to minivan. Depends on what you want. But if I am to come here again, I would definitely choose to have tuk tuk. Tuk tuk can be take anywhere along Aonang street.
We didn't took the 1237 steps up the hill because I don't think my leg can take it. We took about 200 steps and my leg is already shaking, so we have to give up the climb :(

The stairs.. no~~~~
So we just hang around and take pictures of the temples. And after 1 hour, it's time for night market! :)

At first, we was so excited because there are so many foods to try. But because we were given 3 hour for the walk, eventually we felt tired and bored already. And we spent quite a lot of monies sampling the foods.

My first try on mango sticky rice. Don't likey.
Pad Thai. Don't likey too. But I tried a nice version in Phuket.
At the night market, there is an area for us to sit and enjoy our foods. I like this type of concept.

And with this night market, it marks the end of our 4 day 3 night Krabi trip. On the fourth day, we spent walking around Aonang and have massage before depart back to reality. All in all, although it is tiring and the weather is so hot, it is still a memorable and enjoyable trip. My goal of staying in a chalet-like-resort, kayak and elephant ride were achieved! *happy* :)

Krabi Day 3: Kayak, Elephant Trekking

Day 2. Our receptionist help us to book the Kayak and Elephant Trekking tour which cost us THB3200/ 2pax. During our stroll around Aonang town, we saw some tour agency offer a cheaper price than this, which saddened me awhile before I assure myself it is more safe to buy it from the resort it self. Talking about self-assurance.
This is our breakfast for day 2. We choose pancake, expecting it to be such as sell by the roadside or night market. Which again turns out to be disappointment. I'd expose to muesli + yogurt for my first time, which nowadays become my breakfast routine.
Our tour agent pick us up from our resort at 10am and we gather at the kayak center here. You'll never paddle alone!  :)

Then a 2 minute walk to the sea side.
The kayaks.
Our first stop for rest and fruits break. It's very very tiring!!

When you feel too tired from the paddling, you won't have such a mood to enjoy the scenery already. And you wish you can back to the port soonest possible.
Our lunch break before heading to elephant riding. This fried rice is delicious!
Our next stop is elephant camp.
Elephant riding is not as fun as I'd imagine. It's bumpy and height-scary and very very sunny hot!! That I could faint. Please bring umbrella/ cap!

After the 30 minute elephant ride, we were send back to our resort for a quick bath before proceed to our second tour - tiger cave and krabi night market.

Krabi Day 2: 4 Island Tour

We choose to have our complimentary 4 island tour on Day 2. 4 island tour includes Koh Kai, Koh Poda, Ta-Lay Wek, Koh Tab & Phra Nang. The appointed agent come to pick us up at local time 10am (Malaysia time 11am), which means that we still get to sleep longer :)

Breakfast are serve in front of room daily. However, to my disappointment, there is not much of variety to be choose from and the taste is not that good as well.

Here, the boat stop and we can choose to jump in the sea for a swim. But I choose not to. Hehe..
Chicken Island.. It looks more like a camel to me.
Lunch provided by our tour agent. Surprisingly it tasted good  :)

At this moment, I can't wait to head back to our resort because it is so sunny that it makes me feel dizzy. That is why I prefer vacation by the mountain rather than the sea.
After the tiring one day 4 island tour, we had a stroll along the beach and head for our dinner at Wang Sai Seafood. I totally forgotten about taking pictures because we shared our table with an elderly couple from Europe and we were too busy chit-chatting with them. Nevertheless, the dining experience in Wang Sai Seafood doesn't turn out as good as I expected. The price is similar to what we have in KL and the taste doesn't really impress us.

Krabi Day 1: The Cliff Aonang Resort

After having some experience with choosing flight time, nowadays, whenever possible, I prefer to arrive my travel destination around 2pm, where I can immediately check in my hotel for a rest. And to depart from my travel destination around 2pm, after I check out at 12pm. We are lucky that for Krabi, Air Asia have flight departing LCCT at 1.30pm and arriving Krabi at 1.55pm local time  :)

Basically day 1 was spent leisurely because as we gets old, we prefer to take things slow and easy. After check in, we request to have our complimentary tea break and enjoy our tea break. Thereafter, we had a leisure walk around Aonang and along the beach. And back to resort for the complimentary dinner. After dinner, we rest awhile by the poolside for our food to digest a little before enjoying our complimentary 30 minute foot massage  :)

I had always wanted to stay in a chalet-like resort with some kind of 'outdoor' toilet. Thus when I saw this deal in Groupon, I grab it. Someday, when I can afford better, I would want to try on a more luxury chalet-like resort on top of the sea. (You know, something like in Maldives).

However, I find that 'outdoor' toilet is a bit scary because it is too close to nature. I mean, there is frog jumping around, beetles flying around etc. It tends to look more scary at night.
This is the shower area. Please note that the resort provided shampoo and shower gel which looks like had been there for ages and no one ever use it. The bottles that fills the shampoo and shower gel doesn't look nice too. We bought our shampoo and shower gel from the 7-11 mart nearby since the price of it in Thailand is quite cheap compare to Malaysia.
Cool isn't it? Nevertheless, I like it :)
This is the interior of the room. Cozy enough for me :)
No one swims in the pool. It looks kinda dirty although I notice they clean it every morning. But I'd also notice that they didn't change the water.
That's the outlook of our room.
Our complimentary tea break. The ice lemon tea is nice due to the very hot weather but the sandwich is not good at all. The bread is very tough and the fillings is not so fresh.
The complimentary dinner is very nice though. My first try of green curry and fall in love with it.
This sums up our day 1 activities. Indeed a very lazy and relaxing day  :)

4D 3N Krabi

It's been such a long time since I log in to my blogspot and scribble something. A few things around me had got me very busy. Not to mention, I hardly bring my DSLR out for a good shot since my lenses had been 'daylight robbed'. Having some time to spare for myself today, I feel like sharing my 4D3N Krabi experience  :)
  • Air ticket was bought from Air Asia on May 2012 promotion with the price of RM270/pax for return ticket, which I was being told that this was not the cheapest. You can get cheaper than this sometimes. I agree.
  • 4D3N stay in The Cliff Aonang Resort was bought from Groupon with the price of RM858; with surcharge of RM100/ night which sums up to a cost of RM1158.
    • The stays inclusive of return airport transfer, daily breakfast, 1 tea break, 1 dinner, 1 30-minute foot massage and 4 island tour with long boat.

So what we did these 4 days?

Day 1:  free and easy. slow and steady. rest and relax.
Day 2: 1 day trip to 4 island tour by long tail boat. (Koh Kai, Koh Poda, Ta-Lay Wek Koh Tab & Phra Nang)
Day 3: Kayak, Elephant Trekking, Tiger Cave Temple, Krabi Night Market
Day 4: Aonang walk around and bye bye.

Total expenses spent in this trip were about RM2500 for 2 pax. The cost for this trip definitely can be lower down by:
  • Not staying  in a RM386/ night resort
  • Walk out and search for cheaper tour agency for the day tour. We booked it directly from the receptionist from our resort because they are very friendly! Oh nah.. it's also because we don't want the hassle of looking around and bargaining the price which might.. or might not.. end up being conned. As we want an easy and hassle free trip, we just end up paying more. But it's OK, because it is still within our budget.
Within a month, we had also visited Phuket, the neighbour of Krabi. And I would say, I love Krabi more. Stay tune for update and more information :)
